Today's episode looks at different career tracks available within Military Sealift Command. MSC supports operations around the globe, and as a former Surface Warfare Officer, I have relied on their underway replenishment or "UNREP" capabilities many times. I have fond memories of conning the ship alongside an oiler, and knowing that there were highly trained mariners on the other side to provide fuel and provisions we needed to continue our mission.

My interviews today are with Gary Loy and Frank Cunningham. Gary has 9 years with the recruiting organization for MSC and spent over 30 in the US Navy before leaving active duty in 2012.

Frank is the Deputy Director of Total Force Management, taking care of the 5,600 civil service mariners on 55 ships around the globe. We discuss new ships currently being built to replace and modernize the force, how they're being manned, and what that means for recruiting the next generation of technical experts.

If you're considering a career at sea after active duty and want to know what Military Sealift Command has to offer, this episode is for you!
